Importance of Ashtavinyak Yatra

Since ancient times it is believed that the concept of god originates from the Universe. Since human beings limited capacity to understand the true nature of the Universe it has to take the various forms of gods. Vinayaka God is also the god of wisdom and teaches the devotees to increase their intellectual power to understand the true Nature of Univers. Therefore 

Ashtavinayak Yatra is a sacred yatra that must be done by every Hindu devotee. Vinayak is the god of wisdom and helps the devotee to face the most painful and toughest situation in life. There are a total of 8 Vinayak temples 5 are near Pune city 02 are in the Raigad district and 01 is in the Ahmednagar district. It is a tradition of starting the yatra by first visiting Moreshwar of Morgaon. The yatra can be concluded when you visit again at the end of Moreshwar Temple.  All these Ganesh Temples are Swayambhu formed by nature itself.

Each of these temples has its own history. As per the Hindu Shastra, you have to start Yatra starting from Maureshwar Temple of Moragon then other temples shown in sequence as above, But if you are starting Yatra from Mumbai then you can start yatra from Vardvinayak Temple Mahad.

Day-wise Itinerary:
Day 01 : Pune-Moregaon-Theur-Sidhatek-Ranjangaon
Arrive at Pune Airport / Railway Station early in the morning. Then proceed to Morgaon.

Moreshwar temple

is along the Karha river in the Morgaon village. A temple that looks like a tiny fort from a distance is situated in the Baramati Taluka of Pune district in Maharashtra. This region is also known as the Bhuswananda. Shaped as a peacock, this region has in the past seen an abundance of peacocks & is therefore known as Morgaon (Mor - peacock).

Chintamani Temple at Theur

After Moreshwar darshan Proceed to Theur. At Theur in the Haveli Taluka of Pune district in Maharashtra is the temple dedicated to Chintamani Vinayak. The village is along the river Mulamutha. Ganesh as Chintamani is a God who brings peace of mind & drives away all perplexities of the mind. It is believed that Brahma the creator once felt Atharva that is restive. To still his mind he called upon Lord Ganesha. The place where Brahma achieved the quietude he was looking for is known as the Sthavar region or as Theur and then halt for lunch. After lunch leave for Siddhatek.

Siddhivinayak at Siddhatek

This is a remote little village along the river Bhima in the Ahmednagar district & Karjat tehsil in Maharashtra. The Siddhivinayak at Siddhtek is considered an especially powerful deity. It is believed that it was here on the Siddhtek Mountain, that Vishnu acquired Siddhi. After Siddhatek proceeds to Ranjangaon.

Ranjangaon Mahaganapati

The Maha Ganpati is the most powerful representation of Lord Ganesh. Maha Ganpati is depicted as having eight, ten, or twelve arms. It is after invoking this form of Ganpati that Shiva vanquished the demon Tripurasur and so he is also known as Tripurarivade Mahaganpati. Night stay at Pune hotel.

Day 02 : Ozar-Lenyadri-Pali-Mahad 
After Breakfast proceeds to Ozar. On the banks of the Kukdeshwar river,

Vighnasehwar Temple Ozhar

Ozhar is where Lord Vighneshwar resides. Lord Ganesh is known as Vigneshwara or the remover of all obstacles, this he achieved by vanquishing the demon Vighnasura.After darshan leave for Lenyandri.

Girijatmak Temple Lenyadri

Lenyadri, is to the North of Pune, along the Kukdi river. The Ganesh Puran calls this place as Jirnapur or Lekhan Parbat. Girijatmaj Vinayak refers to the Ganesha as the son of Parvati. Girija is another name for Parvati & Atamaj means son. This is the only temple of the Ashtavinayak which is on a mountain & is set in a Buddhist cave temple. After darshan takes a halt for lunch. Then proceed to Pali.

Ballaleshwar Temple Pali Dist Raigad

Among the Ashtavinayakas, Ballaleshvara at Pali is the only Ganesh who is famous by the name of his devotee and who is dressed up as a brahmin. Village Pali is situated in the Sudhagad taluka in the district of Raigad. This place is nestled between the fort Sarasgad & River Amba. After Darshan drive to Mahad.

Vardhavinayak Temple Mahad Dist Raigad

Mahad is a pretty village set in the hilly region of Konkan in the Raigad district & the Khalapur Taluka of Maharashtra. Ganesha as Varad Vinayak fulfills all desires & grants all boons. This region was known as Bhadrak or Madhak in ancient times.
